Playing around with pencil and paper, trying to figure out new cool patterns of skeletonizing a Unitas 6497… I came up with a few ideas, and decided to transfer one of the designs to the main plate. This design is a bit more complicated than I am used to. It involves 2 or 3 layers of carving depth to the main plate, with subtle and not so subtle transitions between the layers. I shall let this one be for a while, and practice my engraving on junk plates and scrap in order to build up confidence…
